Cisco Catalyst Center Foundations Training (CCFND)

Cisco Catalyst Center Foundations training (CCFND) is a five-day live online instructor-led course covering deployment, scalability, initial configuration, ISE integration, automation, assurance, security and programmability. Build the operational foundation to discover devices, apply consistent configurations, investigate health issues and understand policy across enterprise networks.

Why take this course?

A centralized dashboard only helps when the workflows behind it are configured well. CCFND connects platform setup with device onboarding, configuration automation, network health, segmentation and APIs so your team can use Catalyst Center across daily operations.

Course curriculum

1. Catalyst Center overview

Intent-based networking, architecture, features and use cases.

2. Deployment

Pre-deployment requirements and first-time setup.

3. High availability and scalability

Clustering, link redundancy and disaster recovery options.

4. System settings and operations

Platform settings and operational administration.

5. Inventory, discovery and device manageability

Discover devices and establish inventory for centralized management.

6. Basic automation and provisioning

Automate routine device configuration and provisioning.

7. Advanced automation and Day-0 onboarding

Templates and Plug and Play for repeatable onboarding.

8. Prime Infrastructure migration

Migration from Cisco Prime Infrastructure to Catalyst Center.

9. Health and performance monitoring

Network health and performance.

10. Assurance health views

Device, client and application health.

11. Issues, insights and trends

Identify operational issues and examine trends.

12. Wireless monitoring and troubleshooting

Use assurance tools to investigate wireless networks.

13. SD-Access overview

Fabric networking, underlay and overlay routing, and fabric node roles.

14. Policies

Group-based, IP-based and application policies for segmentation.

15. Endpoint visibility

Visibility into connected endpoints.

16. Platform overview

Integration and programmability capabilities.

17. Network and assurance automation

Automation workflows for network operations and assurance.

Technical learning objectives

Explain Catalyst Center architecture and the roles of NetOps, SecOps, AIOps and platform integration. Plan deployment and resiliency, configure system settings, onboard devices, integrate ISE and automate configurations. Investigate device and client health, describe SD-Access fabric roles and routing, and apply policy-based segmentation.

Hands-on labs

Integrate ISE, add devices, automate basic configurations, upgrade device software, apply configuration templates and onboard devices with Plug and Play. Troubleshoot device health, monitor clients and applications, observe AI Network Analytics and investigate wireless networks. Explore SD-Access, deploy group-based access policy, examine APIs and webhooks, deploy infrastructure as code using Terraform, and automate assurance with Ansible.

Who should attend?

Network engineers, network analysts, security engineers, IT professionals and pre-sales engineers who need a foundation in Catalyst Center operations.

Prerequisites

There are no formal prerequisites. Basic network fundamentals, familiarity with Cisco ISE, and awareness of network automation and programmability are recommended. CCNA, ENCOR, SISE and DEVASC provide relevant background; completing those courses is not mandatory.

Certification and exam planning

CCFND is not tied to a specific certification exam. Cisco recommends it as an introduction to ENCOR topics; it does not replace complete ENCOR preparation. Cisco currently lists 44 Continuing Education credits for CCFND, subject to its completion and submission requirements. Training completion does not award a certification. No exam voucher or retake is included in the advertised tuition unless explicitly confirmed in your written quote.
